NYQP Events

Here’s my daughter Karen at the start of this year’s event. She was an excellent driver and navigator. This is the first year I have ever been at the designated starting point on time. In the background is the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. It is 60 foot longer than the Golden Gate Bridge but not nearly as famous. It spans the mouth of the Hudson River connecting Stanton Island (Richmond County) with Brooklyn (Kings County).

It might be a nice day outside but in here it’s all business.

We’re on Coney Island at the South tip of Brooklyn to give out Kings County. Here I am removing the whip antenna so I can attach the large telescoping antenna.

We parked in this lot at Aqueduct Racetrack in Southern Queens County.

In Nassau County the big guy is putting on the big guy.

Back home again. Finished up the last two hours of the contest at the Melville Marriott.

Our first stop was in Schoharie County.

We sure didn’t get too far into the contest and lunch was on our minds here in Cobleskill, NY.

Rolling down Interstate 88 heading East. It’s not easy to send CW and be a backseat driver.

Stop #2 was in Schenectady County.

Then we did a quick stop in Albany County. Ran into a little rain here.

This was my favorite spot in Rensselaer County.

We just drove straight through Greene County because time was running out and I wanted to get here in Delaware County. We had a 2000 ft elevation at this location for the last half hour of the contest.
