After taking 1st Place in 2008 in the ARRL DX CW Low Power Category, I thought it would be appropriate to hang the plaque in the shack.
Three plaques that are currently on display in the “Hamlet”. The plaque wording says (top) VP5DF (WJ2O, op), 2008, World Single Operator Low Power CW, Sponsor: Jim Stevens, K4MA (bottom left) VP5A, Multi-Single, North American Phone, 1997, Donor: Nick G Lash, K9KLR, (right) VP5A (KQ3V, op), World Low Power Phone, 2000.

This year (2009) I must sadly step back as I slid into 2nd place. P40LE (K2LE, op) caught a brief 10 meter opening on Sunday afternoon that never came my way.

I had two licenses. VP5DF is only for the contest. VP5/WJ2O is for other operating.
Taking 2nd place World wasn’t so bad when you consider I was beaten by Andy, K2LE, who is a terrific operator and an all around nice guy. It also worked out that he was technically in South America allowing me to get the plaque for North America.
